Getting your footage off your phones.
Four device paths, four sets of numbered steps — pick the one that matches the phone and the computer.
The one rule that matters most
Never text, iMessage, WhatsApp, or Instagram-DM the videos to anyone. Messaging apps quietly crush videos to a fraction of their original quality.
Use one of the four paths below instead — AirDrop, cable transfer, Google Photos (Original quality), or Quick Share. These all keep the files full-resolution, which is what your editor needs.
AirDrop is the fastest way from any iPhone to any Mac. If you don't have a Mac, skip to “iPhone → PC” below.
On the Mac: open a Finder window → in the sidebar, click AirDrop. Set “Allow me to be discovered by” to Everyone (or Contacts Only if you're already in each other's contacts).
On the iPhone: open Photos, tap Select, tap every clip you want to send. Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow) → AirDrop → pick the Mac's name.
The Mac shows a notification — click Accept. Videos land in Downloads by default (you can drag them anywhere from there).
Big drops (dozens of clips): send in batches of 20–30 at a time. AirDrop can hiccup on huge queues.
Tip: AirDrop sends the ORIGINAL file — no quality loss. iCloud users: if a clip won't send, open it once in the Photos app first so the phone downloads the full-res version from iCloud before sharing.
Once the clips are somewhere real
The couple uploads them to us.
Once the clips are on a phone, a computer, or a shared Google Drive folder, the couple opens their portal Uploads tab and drops them in. The uploader takes every format — phone or camera, HEIC or MP4, up to 110 GB a file. Add more whenever you find another phone with gold on it.
Filmers can’t log in to the portal, so hand your clips to the couple — AirDrop, WeTransfer, a shared Drive folder, a USB drive at brunch the next day — whatever works. They’ll upload from their side.
